Obama Wins Nobel Prize in Economics

Early this morning, the White House received a call from Sweden informing it that President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Prize in Economics.   Specifically, Mr. Obama is awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for "guiding the United States economy out of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.  Through monetary stimulus and monetary policy, Mr. Obama was able to reverse the economic freefall and return the United States on a path to its pre-recession state.

In this morning's White House press conference, Mr. Obama shared the Nobel committee announcement, "As I said in a 60 Minutes interview, 'I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president -- with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln -- just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history.'   Now I can say, I would put my accomplishments against any president.   After all, which other president has won two Nobel prizes?

"Now that the economy is well on the way to recovery, I'm focusing my efforts on the next Nobel Prize, in Physics.   Although we made some mistakes with the investment in Solyndra,  I believe I have discovered a physics breakthrough that will make solar energy cheap and plentiful.    But the answer won't be ready until 2015, after the mid term elections."

"My Presidency will be unsurpassed once I win a third Nobel Prize, which has never been done by an individual before."

After a round of applause, Mr. Obama ended the conference and left to play his annual April 1 round of golf.

A New Green Energy Initiative

In a much anticipated announcement, President Obama shared the four major points of the his green energy initiative today, also know as the Clean Renewable American Power act.  Mr. Obama heralded the bill as a giant step forward in "freeing the United States from its dependency on Middle East oil" and  "providing middle class Americans with sustainable energy for many generations."

President Obama described the specifics as :

  • Natural.

  • Completely sustainable.

  • Addresses greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Middle class focused.

  • The technology involves harnessing methane gas production from livestock such as cows, sheep and goats.  Livestock currently accounts for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions, more than all the planes, trains and automobiles in the world.  So using this source of natural gas would serve several purposes.

The technology is based on a gas capturing and filtration dome that can be placed over individual animals or entire building.  The methane gas is then collected and separated from the oxygen and nitrogen through a series of distillations plates under in subfreezing temperatures.

President Obama dismissed the critics who claimed that this project would likely turn out to be another disaster like Solyndra.  Mr. Obama scolded Republicans, "Let me be perfectly clear, Americans have been asking for Clean Renewable American Power (CRAP) and I'm going to give it to them.  It's time for the Republicans to stop being the party of "no" and vote for CRAP.   It is my goal to make sure the Middle Class gets more CRAP than in the previous three administrations."

One the CRAP act passes, it is expected that President Obama will appoint Lawrence Summers as the new CRAP Czar.   President Obama praised Mr. Summers by saying, "Given that Larry has already shown his effectiveness on White House Economic Council, it is fitting that he become the first Czar of CRAP."

Mr. Obama concluded the press conference by wishing everyone a Happy April Fools' Day!

Congress to Work for No Pay

Today, a bipartisan bill was introduced that would reduce Congress's pay to zero until unemployment is reduced below 6%. A wide range of groups applauded bill, including the Democratic and Republican National Committees. Tea Party representives commented, " This is the type of change we need in this country." AFL-CIO spokeperson said, " It's good that Congress will learn the hardships of the everyday worker first hand." Even Joe the Plumber is supporting the bill 100%.

In an unprecedented showing of bipartisan support, Congressional leaders praised the bill which is expected to get 100% yes votes. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass) said, " I'd be happy to work for no pay, since many Americans don't think I do anything worthwhile anyway. " Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) said, "As the party of NO, we Republicans thought the American people would appreciate us saying "No Pay for Congress."

In his hourly Internet address, President Obama congratulated Congress on taking this historic step. "Let me be perfectly clear," he said, " this is only the first of major new actions the Federal government is taking to reduce the deficit. If Americans are out of work, government leaders have failed and we should not be paid. Let me repeat, we should not be paid." Mr. Obama has decided to postpone his trip to the Final Four in order to ensure Congress votes 100% for this bill.

When I was growing up, government would have never taken such a heroic legislative action. There would have been contentious, partisan battles over political pork , instead of doing what's right for the entire country. Isn't is great this generation has moved beyond that :-)

Please call your Congressional leader and ask them to vote yes on H.R. 4-1-2010, the American April Fool's Deficit Reconciliation Act.

    Will Blog for Food

My Wealth Builder is currently supported by advertising and monetary donations. Beginning today, we are offering another way for readers to support My Wealth Builder - food donations. Please consider contributing at one of the following levels to support My Wealth Builder.

    • Fruit or Vegetable - Will support one update to the sidebars and title sections. This ensures readers will get the most up to date links to great personal finance blogs. This level of support ensures that the technical staff (me) gets sufficient vitamins during the arduous task of updating HTML code.
    • Six Pack of Soft Drinks - Will support one day of insightful and educational personal finance articles. Soft drinks (preferably caffeinated) provide the energy needed to stay up late and create the content readers love.
    • Six Pack of Adult Beverages - Will support a humorous and insightful article about personal finance transgressions. This level of support generally removes any inhibitions I have on sharing past mistakes. Additional six packs will lead to more humorous, and less coherent articles:-)
    • Steaks, Roasts, and Ribs - Will support one week of My Wealth Builder delivered daily over the Intranet. I write best after a good meal. This level will provide sufficient calories to support a week's worth of articles in one sitting.
You may send your donations c/o Super Saver at this Internet address. For more details about the Will Blog For Food donation program, please read this article. We appreciate any donations you can make.
