Ten Worst States for Retirees

Here is a list of the ten worst states in which to retire posted at TopRetirements.com.
  1. Connecticut
  2. Illinois
  3. Rhode Island
  4. Vermont
  5. Massachusetts
  6. New Jersey
  7. Minnesota
  8. New York
  9. Maine
  10. Wisconsin
The criteria used were state fiscal health, taxes, cost of living and climate.  It's interesting that many of the states are located in the Northeast.

Considering climate was a factor, its no surprise. All the states are northern states. Michigan, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wyoming & Idaho (?) probably weren't on the list due to lower cost of living, plus lower income taxes.

But aside Michigan, none of those Northern states that didn't make the list have any significant industry or population centers. They're small states.
